100 Days Hard Labour For 19-Year-Old Convicted Of Stealing Chickens

Nineteen year old Richard Samlal of Stratham Lodge Road, St. Augustine will spend the next 100 days in jail on hard labour after being convicted of stealing his neighbor’s chickens.

He was identified via video footage which was presented in court.

He was arrested and charged yesterday by WPC Romain of the Tunapuna Police Station following an investigation into a report of stolen chickens made by his neighbour on February 1st.

The victim reported that at 5pm of January 31st, he secured his ten chickens in two pens and went away, only to return and find them missing.

During the said investigation, video footage was obtained and Samlal was identified as one of four suspected perpetrators as his face was the only one unmasked.

The other three suspects are yet to be identified.
