188 Quarantined After 11 Shell Platform Workers Test Covid-19 Positive

Eleven staff members from Shell’s Dolphin platform have tested positive for Covid-19, and another 188 primary contacts have been sent into quarantine as a precaution.

This was confirmed by Principal Medical Officer at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Maryam Abdool-Richards at Monday’s Covid-19 press briefing.

“At this point in time we are pleased to indicate that this increase of cases on the Dolphin platform is not an outbreak and has been successfully contained,” Dr. Abdool-Richards said.

The first case was confirmed on January 30 and the Ministry said initially 12 workers tested positive however one of those cases subsequently returned a negative result.

The Dolphin platform continues to operate at this time, with the necessary protocols being observed.
