A 23-year-old labourer of La Romain was granted $210,000 bail with a surety after pleading not guilty before a Siparia Magistrate on two robbery charges.

Jamaal Matthews appeared virtually before Siparia Magistrate Aden Stroude on Monday, charged with two counts of robbery with aggravation in connection with two
incidents earlier this month.

Matthews was arrested on Thursday 20th August, 2020, by Cpl Thompson and PCs Kunjal and Baboolal of the Oropouche Criminal Investigations Department (CID) following extensive enquiries by the officers into reports of robbery with aggravation at Simple Supermarket, Southern Main Road, South Oropouche on Sunday 2nd August, 2020, and at Three Roads Bar, Mon Desir, Delhi Road, Fyzabad, on
Tuesday 4th August, 2020.

He was subsequently jointly charged by PCs Kunjal and Baboolal.

Matthews is scheduled to reappear in court on Monday 21st September, 2020.
