By Newsroom

Three people, including a 20 year old woman, are due to appear in court today after cops made a $4.9 million cocaine bust in Couva over the weekend.

Shania Andrews, 24 year old Nigel Babwah and 57 year old Bernard Squires will appear virtually before a Port of Spain Magistrate, charged with drug trafficking.

The three were charged on Saturday by officers of the Four Roads Police Station for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

According to police reports, during the wee hours of Saturday, police officers attached to the Western, Port-of-Spain and Central Divisions conducted a coordinated exercise in Central division. During the exercise, officers received intelligence which led them to proceed to a house in Couva.

Upon arrival at the location, the officers searched the premises, where they allegedly discovered 3.531 kilogrammes of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $4,921,652. The three were immediately arrested.

The narcotics were seized and handed over to crime scene investigators for processing.
