50,000 Pfizer Doses To Be Available To General Public From Tomorrow

By Newsroom

Starting Saturday, the Ministry of Health will make available to the general public, 50,000 Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines.

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley says the policy change comes given there’s a sufficient stock to cover the 12-18 grouping, which previously had exclusive access to the Pfizer doses.

Dr. Rowley was speaking at Friday’s media conference, held at the PM’s official residence at Blenheim House in Tobago.

The decision was one of many agreed upon during the three-da Cabinet retreat which wrapped up this morning.

Previously, the doses were strictly reserved for those in the 12-18 grouping, who cannot receive another vaccine dose per the guidelines from the World Health Organization.

But with the doses due to expire in November, and vaccine hesitancy from some parents, government has now taken a decision to make an initial 50,000 doses available to the general public.

Trinidad and Tobago received 305,370 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on August 11th, courtesy the United States government.

It is out of a total 907,920 to be donated by the US.
