All Court Buildings Closed To Public Until June 30th

By Newsroom

All court buildings across the country will be closed to the public until June 30th.

As a result, the Judiciary says all hearings have been suspended during this period, except for any matters, which the Court deems fit for hearing during this period.

The Judiciary clarified that the following matters are always fit for hearing, meaning they do not have to be formally deemed fit by a Court.)

• Domestic violence cases;
• Maintenance applications;
• Urgent custody applications;
• Detention of cash matters;
• Matters under the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2021; and
• Charge matters.

Outside of this list, people who think that their matters should be deemed fit for hearing may apply to the Court to have their matter approved for hearing

The Judiciary notes that the Court can deem a matter fit for hearing on its own if the judge thinks it
should be deemed fit.
