The new school term will begin on Monday, September 6th and will remain fully virtual in the first instance.
A move to physical classes, at least starting with forms 4-6, will depend on the number of students who get vaccinated, according to the Education Ministry.
“The vaccination uptake by the population, including students, as well as the overall COVID-19 situation will be taken into consideration by the Ministry of Health, which will further advise the government and Ministry of Education on a possible start date for face-to-face classes,” said the MoE’s statement on Tuesday.
People ages 12-18 are currently being targeted to be vaccinated against Covid-19 with the Pfizer vaccine, which is approved for the minor age group by the World Health Organization.
