Health officials have taken note of an increase in Covid-19 hospitalizations since mid-July, and Dr Maryan Richards reported that there has also been an increase in the number of Covid- positive patients showing up at the Emergency departments.

Most of these would have been infected with the Ba-5  Omicron variant which is the dominant strain.  

Covid-19 hospitalizations are now at 156, meanwhile the Ministry of Health reported 227 new cases and three deaths in its most recent update on Wednesday.
