President-elect Christine Kangaloo will receive her instrument of election this morning, after winning the vote of the Electoral College last week to serve as this country’s next Head of State.

She will be presented with the instrument by House Speaker Brigid Annisette George.

The President-elect is also scheduled to give her first media conference since being selected to serve as the next President, according to a brief statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Parliament.

After being successfully elected last Friday, Ms. Kangaloo expressed gratitude for her upcoming role. 

“Now that the election is over, I look forward to serving our country in the only way I know how – with love for all and with an unwavering belief in the innate goodness of our people. I am grateful to everyone who participated in the electoral process, and to Mr Israel Khan, SC, in particular, who graciously offered himself to serve,” she said.
