MP for St. Augustine, Khadijah Ameen, is calling on the Prime Minister to disburse funds to Baptist groups and churches ahead of the celebration of Spiritual Shouter Baptist Liberation Day.

She was speaking at the UNC Monday Night Report at St. Helena Hindu School when she noted that St. Barbara’s Spiritual Shouter Baptist School was built by the Kamla Persad-Bissessar government and that the church headed by Archbishop Burke falls within St. Augustine Constituency.

In a statement, MP Ameen added that she lamented the fact that last year, the Baptist organizations received disbursements from the government in May, two months after their celebration.

“Archbishop Barbara Burke also addressed the audience and reminded the nation that Spiritual Shouter Baptist Liberation Day was made a holiday under UNC government and emphasized that lands occupied by the church was only granted under the UNC while Kamla Persad-Bissessar was Minister of Legal Affairs. The Panday Government also built an ECCE center on the compound however, it was vandalized while the PNM was in office because they failed to
build a walkover to access the school.”
