Assistant Cook Attached to Coast Guard Held with Gun and Ammo

An Assistant Cook attached to the Coast Guard has been arrested and a firearm and quantity of ammunition were seized by officers of the Guard and Emergency Branch, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Port of Spain district yesterday.

According to the TTPS, officers were on mobile patrol around 8:30 pm, on Tuesday 13th August 2024, when they observed a Mazda 3 motor vehicle proceeding along Abattoir Road. The vehicle was intercepted and a search resulted in the discovery of one pistol loaded with an extended magazine containing three rounds of ammunition.

The driver was arrested in connection with the find.

Meanwhile, in the Tobago Division, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force conducted an exercise in the Scarborough, Whim, Signal Hill, Buccoo and Plymouth districts. During the exercise, a quantity of marijuana was found.

Also, in the St. Joseph district, officers conducted an exercise between 10:30 am and 2 pm yesterday, during which they proceeded to Hobal Trace. There, they found a motor vehicle which had been reported stolen during a Robbery with Aggravation incident in the Sangre Grande
district.

Investigations are ongoing into all the above matters.
