Two flu deaths in January

The number of flu deaths has grown to 39 with two deaths out of the  147 cases of influenza reported for the month of January, according to the Ministry of Health (MOH).

The statistics were released on Wednesday.

The number of suspected influenza cases for the 2020 calendar year (as of Friday, 31st January 2020) – 147 cases;

(NB the number of suspected influenza cases for the 2019 calendar year was 3,854

  The number of confirmed influenza deaths for the current flue season – 39.

The MOH said that as of January 31st the cumulative number of vaccines administered to the public for this flu season  82,843

  The Influenza virus is serious and is generally more severe than the common cold.

  The flu vaccine is available, at no cost, at all health centres.
