Two men escape police involved shooting in Princes Town

By Newsroom

One man was arrested, but two others managed to escape following a police-involved shooting incident at Mandingo Road in Princes Town last night. It happened around 8 30 on Tuesday night when officers of the Southern Division were on mobile patrol  and received information about men armed with guns traveling in a convoy of three vehicles. “The officers subsequently spotted one of the vehicles, a white Mitsubishi panel van, and attempted to intercept it, when they were shot at by its occupants. In accordance with the Use of Force policy, officers returned fire in an attempt to stop the vehicle,” the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service said in a news release on Wednesday. The vehicle came to a halt and two male suspects ran off into some nearby bushes so the officers called in help from the Ste. Madeleine, Princes Town and Barrackpore Police Stations as well as the emergency response patrol units and the Southern Division Task Force. Following an extensive search of the area, a 28-year-old man of Orangefield Road, Carapichaima, was held in connection with the incident.
