Official statement from the Elections and Boundaries Commission:
A total of one hundred and fifty (150) candidates will contest the August 10th Parliamentary Elections.
The People’s National Movement (PNM) is the only political party fielding candidates in all forty-one constituencies in Trinidad and Tobago.
The United National Congress (UNC) has put up a slate of thirty-nine (39) candidates in Trinidad and the Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP) is fielding twenty-eight (28) candidates also in Trinidad alone.
There are five (5) independent candidates in the 2020 Parliamentary Elections. These candidates are presenting themselves in the following electoral districts: Chaguanas East Moruga/Tableland St. Joseph
Two (2) independent candidate are presenting themselves in the constituency of Tobago West.
