A Democratic Win: US Media Houses Declare Biden-Harris Victory

By Newsroom

After roughly four days of intense ballot-counting, legal threats and premature “victory” speeches from the Republican party, Joe Biden has been named the President-elect of the United States.

Since Tuesday, Biden has been leading in most polls in battleground states, however with hundreds of thousands of ballots having still been outstanding at the time, US news networks held their hand on calling a victory.

That changed on Saturday morning, after the Democratic candidate secured a win in Pennsylvania, surpassing the 270 electoral college votes needed to earn his spot at the White House.

CNN, BBC and ABC are among the major news networks who have declared Biden the winner.

The Democratic win is also a history making moment, as Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris is now the Vice President-elect, becoming the first African/Asian American to be elected to the position.

Despite the race being called, Donald Trump’s camp shows zero signs of conceding.

President Trump’s campaign manager insisted to staff that their candidate still has a path to victory.

Bill Stepien told officials: “He is in this fight. He is in this fight…These are razor thin margins. We are not giving up the fight in these places. We are not giving up the fight.”

Mr. Trump will become the first US President to lose his run for a second term, since the 1990s.
