A two hour police exercise in the Morvant district on Wednesday led to the seizure of an AK-47 assault rifle, two magazines and quantities of ammunition and marijuana.

Officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force conducted the exercise between 11:00am and 1:00pm, during which they proceeded to Pelican Extension, Morvant, where they conducted a search of a bushy area.

The search resulted in officers finding an AK-47 assault rifle, two magazines, 144 rounds of assorted ammunition, 640 grammes of marijuana and one bullet-proof vest.

No arrests were made in connection with the find. 

Investigations are ongoing.
