All Police Recruits Remain At The Academy

By Newsroom

All of the 199 police recruits remained at the Police Academy in St James and none have expressed a desire to abandon training. This follows newspaper reports that some of the recruits wanted to go home, after COVID-19 regulations were enforced. They were given the option to leave the training facility but were told that because of the health risk they would not be allowed to return. The trainees were addressed on Tuesday morning by ACP, Administration, Pamela Schullera-Hinds (in photo) and Snr. Supt. Police Academy, Ken Charles on behalf of the Commissioner of Police. “They were reminded of the commitment that they gave regarding completing their training during their first day of enlistment by ACP Hinds as well as the different aspects of the policies that govern the communication with external entities during and after the training has completed. ‘The trainees were told to have an appreciation that they are in a safe environment (considered highly quarantined) during this time while the country battles the COVID-19 virus which is affecting the world,” the TTPS said in a News Release.
