Neville Jules the man credited with creating the bass drums and who was the founder of the Trinidad All Stars Steel Orchestra has passed away.

Jules, a holder of two national awards, the Humming Bird Bronze and the Chaconia Silver, was 93 years old.

In announcing his passing the band  noted that he “is the foundation  on which the All-Stars was built.”  And they promised that “because of you we coming with real fire this year”

All-Stars will play in position eleven at the Panorama Finals on Saturday night.

Jules was a Tambu Bamboo player before he started experimenting with the Steelband in the 1940s leading him to form the All-Stars.

He was the band’s tuner, captain and arranger.

He is credited as the man who created the concept of the bomb tune which was usually an interpretation of classical music with a calypso beat. He was soon followed by Ellie Mannette of Invaders.

It is now known as the Neville Jules Bomb Competition.

Jules migrated to the USA in 1971 and made two attempts to start up another All-Stars in New York, but it did not work as he wanted.
