Apple Inc has revealed two new MacBooks powered with the latest M2 Pro and M2 Max chips made in-house. The surprise announcement was made today, January 17, ahead of its traditional launch event.
The new model has a starting price of USD $599 and is available to order today, with availability beginning Tuesday, January 24th.
According to a release from the company the new MacBook Pro’s performance is at least six times faster than the Intel-based MacBook Pro.
Apple last revised the Mac Mini in 2020. The M2 chip debuted in June 2022 on the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro and later expanded to the iPad Pro; this is the first time it’s come to a desktop.
The company usually has four launch events in a year, with the first spring event scheduled in March, when Apple launches its iMacs and accessories.
