Aripo Water Treatment Plant Vandalised

  The electrical panel, cables and wiring at the Aripo Water Treatment plant have been sabotaged leaving a large part of  North East last  Trinidad without a water supply.   

Repairs by T&TEC will not be completed before Thursday.

“The Raw Water Station at the facility was found to have been broken into and a significant portion of the electrical panels, cables and wiring was damaged or removed.

  “The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) also suffered a loss of equipment on their poles in the immediate area and the Authority is currently working with them to have the issues corrected and the facility returned to service by 6:00 a.m. on Thursday 113,”  WASA said in a  news release.

The affected areas include: Santa Rosa Heights, the Train Line Road off Pinto Road Tumpuna Road between Henrise & Malabar Road Extension and Malabar Road Extension between Pro Queen Street and Ackbarali Trace .

“In order to mitigate the impact of this disruption, the Authority will be redirecting water supplies from other sources in North East Trinidad to provide a limited pipe borne water service to affected areas.

“A limited truck-borne water service will also be available with priority given to special homes, health care institutions and schools.
