An attorney-at-law, KAVITA PERSAD, was granted bail with a surety of $350,000 when she appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate earlier this week, charged with Larceny. She was also instructed to report to the Arouca Police Station once a week. According to the TTPS, a victim reported that during the period December 2021 to April 2022, they paid sums totalling $224,625, to an attorney-at-law for the provision of legal services concerning a High Court matter. Subsequent checks with the High Court allegedly revealed that the attorney did not provide the legal services as promised and attempts to have the money refunded proved futile.
