Barbadians Vote In General Elections Today After Injunction Thrown Out At High Court

By Newsroom

Barbadians are out at the polls today to elect a new government.

The High Court yesterday dismissed an application to call off the General Election, pointing out the matter should have been filed in an elections court as the High Court has no jurisdiction over the case.

Mottley, who called the snap election in late December, said on Monday night that the attempt by the DLP to stall the elections demonstrated the Opposition had little hope in unseating her party, the Barbados Labour Party.

“Why? Because they know they are losing,” she told supporters, adding “they are now trying everything to stop you from returning the Barbados Labour Party to government and allowing us to continue the mission of transformation.” Mottley said.
