Bars, Beaches, Cinemas Etc To Reopen From Monday- Here’s What You Need To Know

Government will move ahead with its plans for reopening on Monday June 22nd, with majority places being given the green light to resume operations. 

At Saturday’s press conference held in Tobago, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley cautioned the public that while more activity resumes, the threat of the virus has not been eliminated and as such health precautions must still be carried out.

Dr. Rowley firmly clarified that there were no plans to reopen borders at this time. “You may hear that some of our neighbors are opening their borders because they believe that it is okay to open their borders for international travel. While we are part of the CARICOM system and would love to do everything with CARICOM, in this matter of our health there are some decisions  that are going to be CARICOM and there are some decisions that are going to be Trinidad and Tobago.

Here are the changes that come into effect on Monday:

-Businesses can now close at 10pm.

-In house dining resumes

-Bars, cinemas, theatres, members clubs and casinos can operate.

-Beaches and rivers to reopen

-Amusement parks and zoos to reopen

Team sports can begin- NO congregation allowed, only players. Horse racing also resumes

-Gyms to reopen

-Students can go in to prepare for exams. However the full reopening of schools remains carded for September.

-Public servants goes back out to work at optimum level.

-Public gathering groups increased from 10 person limit to 25 persons

-There is NO number cap for weddings or funerals, the numbers will be dictated based on the size of the religious organization/venue. (The number of people that can be allowed in a space in keeping with the proper protocols for physical distancing)
