Blood Supply In Tobago “Critically Low”, Donors Needed

By Newsroom

The public is being asked to donate blood as a matter of urgency, as the Division of Health and Wellness in Tobago says blood supply on the island is critically low.

A statement from the Division said “the levels at the blood bank are low and need to be replenished” adding that blood donation can only be sustained by regular, voluntary, non- remunerated blood donation.

Acting Medical Chief of Staff, Dr. Victor Wheeler is urging the public to help save lives by donating.

“We are in need of blood and are critically low and we need the public’s help. It’s not a difficult process and it’s very simple. Often we don’t think about blood donations, until someone we know needs it. Don’t wait for that emergency situation, do it now” Dr. Wheeler said.

Anyone wishing to donate can call 660-4744 ext. 3101 to make an appointment and come over.

The Blood Bank in located at the Scarborough General Hospital.
