A 16 year old is among nine suspects held in connection with the kidnapping of husband and wife Narine and Mattie Maraj. 

The man managed to escape his abductors on Sunday, one day after the pair was snatched after leaving their home in St. Helena.

Police have confirmed that the woman was later returned to safety on Tuesday afternoon.

The couple’s vehicle, which was taken during the abduction, has also been recovered.

Acting Police Commissioner Mc Donald Jacob has commended the dedicated and professional work of the officers involved in the investigation in ensuring the safe return of the victims.

He noted the collaborated efforts among the various law enforcement bodies, played a pivotal role in the success of these investigations, as well as during investigations into previous incidents of kidnapping, where victims were returned safely to their families.
