“Bring It On, We Have Court Clothes” Kamla Says Over PNM Threat To Challenge Princes Town Seat

By Newsroom

Political Leader of the United National Congress (UNC), Kamla Persad Bissessar, appeared to be unfazed by the People’s National Movement’s plans to challenge the Princes Town seat post election.

The threat came as the PNM pointed to the fact that the UNC candidate, incumbent, Barry Padarath, signed the wrong form on Nomination Day- arguing that this should make his candidacy null and void.

Asked about the matter shortly after she cast her vote at the Hermitage Presbyterian Primary School on Monday, Persad Bissessar told reporters she had no problem with it, chiding “Bring it on. We have a lot of court clothes.”

That seat is a validly nominated candidate for Princes Town, she said, cautioning constituents: “Go out and cast their vote, we’ll deal with it later”

Padarath is up against the PNM’s Sharon Baboolal and Kim Young Low of the Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP).

Prior to election day,  Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) CEO, Fern Narcis-Scope said the matter is soon to be the subject of court proceedings.
