Businessman and Business Woman Charged with Seperate Incidents of Fraud

By Newsroom

A man and a woman have been charged with fraud-related offences in separate incidents that have caught the attention of authorities.

According to the TTPS, Neil Pierre, a businessman from Viceroy Crescent, Bon Air Gardens, Arouca, was formally charged on Thursday, January 9, 2025, with ten counts of Fraudulently Obtaining Credit by means other than false pretences. The charges stem from a report filed by a victim who alleged that Pierre received goods on credit totalling $103,280 between March 15, 2022, and July 26, 2022.

Despite repeated attempts to recover the outstanding amount, Pierre failed to honour his financial obligations. Under the guidance of Insp. Gonzales, the Fraud Squad conducted an investigation, which led to the issuance of summonses by Master Whitney Franklin at the South B High Court in Port of Spain. Pierre was arrested and charged, and the case is scheduled for a hearing on January 22, 2025, at the San Fernando High Court.

In a separate case, Annie Rambally, a 52-year-old businesswoman, was charged with Fraudulent Conversion after a victim reported that they paid her $6,000 for catering services in August 2022. The services, scheduled for August 29 and August 31, 2022, were never provided, and the victim was unable to recover the payment despite numerous attempts.

An investigation led by Senior Superintendent Abbott and a team of officers culminated in Rambally’s arrest on January 8, 2025. She appeared before Master Kimitria Gray at the Tunapuna Magistrates’ Court on January 10, 2025, and was granted bail in the amount of $12,000. The case is set for a hearing on February 18, 2025, at the Tunapuna Magistrates’ Court.
