Cabo Star Quarantined, For a Few Hours

By Newsroom

The Cabo Star, the lone cargo boat which services the inter-island Seabridge was temporarily quarantined on Thursday morning at the Port of Spain waterfront.

This occurred shortly after seven o’clock after Port Health informed the Chief Medical Officer that a person on board the vessel, which usually has very few passengers, was ill with flu-like symptoms.

“The passenger was taken by ambulance to the Port of Spain General Hospital where the medical experts said that he had lower respiratory tract infection,” the  Chief Medical Officer (CMO)  revealed at the Post Cabinet News briefing.

“We held the vessel for that time until he was diagnosed,” the CMO, noted, adding that the few passengers and the crew were not allowed to disembark.

With the diagnosis, however, the situation returned to normal.
