Just over one week after the body of 53 year old Geeta Newman was found at her home in Plaisance Park, Pointe-a-Pierre, her sister has been charged with the crime.

Radica Resaulsingh, 52, and her boyfriend Marlon Mc Kain, 46, were both charged on Thursday evening after being arrested in connection with the crime last Tuesday.

Geeta was last seen last Monday, June 15, in the company of her sister, Ms Resaulsingh.

On Tuesday police proceeded to the victim’s residence in Pointe-a-Pierre, which she shared with Ms Resaulsingh.

There, they met the two suspects who allegedly informed them that Ms Newman had left for Penal the night before to see her daughter.

However, upon searching the premises officers discovered the woman’s lifeless body in a room.

An autopsy later concluded that her death was caused due to blunt force trauma and asphyxia.

The pair was expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate on Friday.
