DCP (Ag.) McDonald Jacob,

The two police officers and two soldiers who were involved in a disturbing video posted on March 28th, which showed them forcing a homeless man to consume alcohol while on joint patrol, could be hit face multiple charges for the action before the end of this week.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Mc Donald Jacob made the revelation during the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s media briefing on Tuesday.

“The investigators are today presently at the DPP’s (Director of Public Prosecution) office finalising the various charges to be brought against the four officers. There will be various charges, ranging to assault and mischief in public office,” he said.

The clip, which went viral almost immediately after it was posted to social media in late March, showed officers commanding the gentleman to drink alcohol and conduct exercises along George Street. The men could be heard, though their faces not seen, laughing scandalously at the man’s apparent suffering.

DCP Jacob said the investigation is expected to be wrapped up as early as the end of this week.
