National Shotputter and Olympic finalist Cleopatra Borel has cemented her segue into the political arena, having been confirmed as the Port of Spain South candidate for the People’s National Movement in the upcoming general elections.
The party confirmed Borel and four other candidates today.
The incumbent for the Port of Spain South seat, Marlene Mc Donald, did not offer herself to be screened, according to the party’s Public Relations Officer, Laurel Lezama-Lee Sing.
The party has also confirmed that former leader of the NNV Fuad Abu Bakr has not been screened by the PNM committee, even having visited the Queen’s Hall screening venue on Thursday.
Meanwhile, there appears to be an upset with Toco/Sangre Grande MP Glenda Jennings Smith, who posted on her Facebook on Friday morning “When one man can plan a conspiracy to remove an incumbent”. Mervyn Dillon has been named as the candidate for Toco/Sangre Grande.
