Coast guard officers on Sunday intercepted a Venezuelan vessel seen illegally entering Trinidad and Tobago’s waters, also seizing a quantity of drugs.

A statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard stated that as it pursued the vessel, the occupants dumped several packages overboard.

The TTCG was able to retrieve several crocus bags that contained individually wrapped packages of a green plant-like substance inside.

The crew, the packages and the vessel were handed over to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Customs Division and Immigration Division.

Investigations are continuing.
