Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) officers intercepted a vessel in Gulf of Paria during the wee hours of Sunday, seizing “five large packages which contained a green plant like substance.”

According to a statement from the TTCG, the vessel, carrying three foreign nationals and two Trinidadian nationals, was intercepted at 2:34am.

The vessel, its contents and the persons were handed over to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Customs and Excise Division and Immigration Division.

Investigations are continuing.

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard says it continues to provide border security services in the face of the threat of Covid-19 “in order to maintain the safety and security of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago through the conduct of maritime security patrols within our area of operations.”
