COVID-19 Death Toll Reaches 40 As Another Patient Dies, 75 More Test Positive

The Ministry of Health provides the following update: 

The Ministry of Health regrets to inform the public that there is an additional COVID-19 related death. The person is an elderly male with co-morbidities. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 40.

-Seventy-five (75) additional persons have tested positive for COVID -19.

It should be noted that, of the seventy-five (75) COVID-19 positive cases reported, thirteen (13) of these refer to persons who were housed at the Police Training Academy and have not been in circulation within the national community. These individuals will be transferred to a public health facility for relevant medical care.  All established protocols have been implemented.

-Three (3) of the positive cases reported are from Tobago

The seventy-five (75) positive cases reported above show results from samples taken during the period August 29th to September 9th, 2020. Therefore, this figure is NOT representative of the positive cases over the last 24 hours only.

-Six (6) persons have been discharged.

COVID-19 Positive Patients in Hospital – (106)

One thousand five hundred and seventy (1,570) patients have been home isolated under the continuous monitoring of the respective County Medical Officer Health (CMOH) offices.

Seventy – five (75) new patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the CMOHs.
