Crime Update : Nine Arrested For Arms and Ammunition

Five Venezuelan nationals and one Trinidad and Tobago national were arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition in the Southern Division on Thursday And that was just one of three matters reported by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) of persons arrested for possession of arms and ammunition in different parts of the country.  Police said they intercepted a sliver Mitsubishi Libero station wagon at the intersection of Todd Street and the Rienzi Kirton Highway, San Fernando around seven o’ clock on Thursday night were they found one Browning pistol with nine rounds of ammunition. ( see photo above).Five men, ages 18 to 26, and one female, aged 26, all residing in the Southern district were arrested.   Two men, ages 29 and 31, were also arrested for possession of firearm and ammunition at  Caigual Road, Sangre Grande. The men emerged from a nearby bushy area and entered a white Honda City vehicle with a shotgun. The officers searched the vehicle, and found one homemade shot-gun  as well as dozen 12-gauge cartridges (See photo below) A 27 year old man of St Augustine was arrested with a revolver and  five  rounds of ammunition at a house at Mendez Trace, Arima, during an anti-crime exercise between 1:00am and 3:00am, on Friday 3rd April. The search resulted in four cellular phones which were reported stolen being discovered . Cops say the  revolver was  reportedly stolen from a security guard in January ( See photo below) .
