Cummings Leads T&T Delegation For Meeting With President Irfaan Ali

Government is continuing work to strengthen its diplomatic relations with Guyana, now moved further ahead by a meeting between a T&T delegation and Guyanese Present Dr Irfaan Ali on Thursday.

The team, led by Youth Minister Foster Cummings, engaged in talks which focused on better positioning young people in agriculture and agro-processing.

“…Also leading to future collaboration between Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago on regional food security,” a statement from T&T’s Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs. 

President Dr. Ali made a commitment to work with Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley, to ensure that these initiatives come to fruition in the shortest possible time frame.

The meeting, held at  the President’s official residence in Georgetown on Thursday evening, also included Guyana’s Vice President, Bharrat Jagdeo,  and Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha.

Meanwhile, Minister Cummings was joined by Ministers in the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Avinash Singh and Senator  Nigel de Freitas, along with other members of the Trinidad and Tobago delegation.

Last month, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley led a delegation to Guyana, where he participated in a regional meeting on agriculture.
