Curfew Hours Remain Unchanged, PM Says

By Newsroom

While there have been a relaxation of several Covid-19 restrictions, as announced by Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley on Saturday, businesses will have to operate around the existing curfew hours.

This was confirmed by Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, who told Saturday’s media conference that government was trying its best to reopen the sector on an incremental basis while still trying to limit movement as much as is possible.

Curfew hours are currently 9pm to 5am daily.

With the current State of Emergency due to expire on August 30th, Prime Minister Rowley was asked whether the government was looking at having it extended for another three months.

To this, he responded saying government was taking it day by day, and would be able to state what measures would be taken closer to that date.

“Let’s put it this way. As soon as we can relax some measures and it is safe to do so, then that is what we will do,” the PM said.

Relaxation of Restrictions

On the backdrop of an accelerated vaccination program, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley on Saturday, also announced that restaurants will be allowed to resume operation from July 19th, as part of the move to slowly relax Public Health Restrictions.

As he made the announcement, he noted that this would only allow curbside, delivery and drive-through options.

In addition to the food and beverage sector resuming operation, the PM also announced that exercising in public spaces can resume, effective July 19th.

Masks must be worn, and groups of no more than five are permitted.

Team sports are still banned, however.

From July 12th, retail car dealership sales can also resume.

The manufacturing sector will resume operation from July 12th.
