By Newsroom

The Caribbean Examinations Council, CXC, has convened an independent team to review its modified approach in the administration of the July/August 2020 CSEC and CAPE Examinations.

The Committee, appointed by CXC’s Chairma, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, will “review the modified approach for the administration of the July/August 2020 CSEC and CAPE Examinations; the moderation process applied to the School-Based Assessment (SBA) for the July/August 2020 CSEC and CAPE Examinations, and the grading process for the July/August 2020 CSEC and CAPE examinations, among other related matters,” CXC  said in a statement.

Friday’s development comes after thousands of complaints were made across the region of undeniable anomalies with student’s grades since preliminary results were released on September 22nd.

Some students reported receiving A’s across all of their profiles, however earning a low final grade.

It is just one example of the troubles  which have left students puzzled, however at a press conference after the results were released, CXC Registrar Dr. Wayne Wesley insisted that the number of students with complaints were in the “minority”, claiming to have only received two formal complaints at the time.

Over the past week, Professor Beckles has taken over addressing the matter, seeking to allay the concerns of students, their parents and teachers.

In Trinidad and Tobago, a total of 118 formal complaints have been submitted.

The Committee has been given a deadline of October 16th to submit their findings.
