CXC To Unveil Strategy For CSEC, CAPE Exams Tomorrow

By Newsroom

Students, parents and education stakeholders should have a clear idea of the path forward regarding this year’s CSEC and CAPE examinations, when the Caribbean Examinations Council hosts a media conference tomorrow to announce its plans.

The press briefing will be hosted by Dr. Wayne Wesley, Registrar and CEO of CXC.

Lasy Thursday, Education Minister Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly announced at the Post Cabinet media briefing, that government had written to CXC, giving its support for a postponement of the examinations by no more than three weeks.

The concern arises out of the fact that Covid-19 cases are at a record high in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as other countries that are signed on to the regional examination body.

Several bodies have also expressed support for how the exam structure will impact students.

The United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has called for CXC and regional Ministers of Education to make adjustments to the content and administration of these exams, to ensure that the region’s students are not further disadvantaged.
