If you’ve received a call from a strange +252 number don’t answer it and don’t call back. Several people on social media in T&T have posted about the strange number. It seems to be a scam originating from Somalia and has affected people around the world.

The scam affected Sweden last year and Swedish police said they’d received a host of suspicious calls from numbers starting with the country code +252 between May 26th and 27th, and they suspect it is an attempt at fraud.

They revealed that Swedes who were targeted say that they received missed calls during the middle of the night, and when they called back they were connected to answering machines and hold music, apparently designed to keep them on a premium rate line for as long as possible.
