Education Ministry: 44% Of Teachers Reported For Duty Amid TTUTA’s “Blackout”

By Newsroom

Some 44% of teachers logged in for online learning today, even as the teaching body staged a “Virtual Blackout” in protest of the Education Ministry’s mandate for hybrid learning.

In-person classes for fully vaccinated students in forms 4-6 resume next Monday, while unvaccinated students of this cohort will have to be facilitated via virtual learning.

But the teachers argue that the policy is unfeasible.

Admitting that it was no easy task to juggle,  Minister Gadsby-Dolly said all education stakeholders must come together and make the sacrifice to adapt to hybrid learning, as fully vaccinated students in forms four to five are set to resume in-person learning from Monday.

Asked about TTUTA planning a second blackout protest for online classes come next Tuesday, Minister Gadsby-Dolly said at a press conference this afternoon that she was not aware of any such action, but said Principals would know the necessary action that must be taken.
