An 18-year-old, unemployed man was granted bail in the sum of $90,000 with a surety when he appeared before Magistrate Indra Jagroop, at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court charged with one count of Sexual Penetration.

The matter was heard earlier this week on Tuesday, February 14. As part of the bail condition, the accused was ordered not to communicate directly or indirectly with the victim, and he must report to a police station in his district once per week.

The accused is expected to reappear in court on 15th March 2023.

According to the police report on Monday 5th February 2023, a 16-year-old girl was at home when a male relative allegedly entered her bedroom and sexually penetrated her.

The incident was later reported to the Child Protection Unit, Tobago Division. After officers conducted investigations, one suspect was arrested and charged with Sexual Penetration by WPC Leacock on February 13, 2023.

The investigation was supervised by Senior Superintendent Claire–Guy Alleyne, and Inspector (Ag) Miller.
