The TTPS has confirmed that 11 of the 38 Venezuelans who were detained on Tuesday morning at the Tzar Nightclub, Woodbrook, are still in custody and are being interrogated by police officers.

They said this is despite what the management of Tzar Nightclub stated in a media release today that everyone was released from custody. Five of the Venezuelans are still detained at the Woodbrook Police Station and another six at the Central Police Station, St Vincent Street, Port-of-Spain.

“The TTPS also confirmed that among the 38 detainees, there were five girls between the ages of 15 and 17. When the Venezuelans were taken into custody, everyone was allowed to write their names and dates of birth. From the record obtained by the police, five of the detainees were 17 and under.”

Three of the young girls have been accounted for, while two escaped custody. The search continues for them. Immigration authorities are also investigating this matter.
