EMA Corrects Top Cop’s “Discrepancy”, Says Noise Variation Not A Requirement For Motorcades

By Newsroom

The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) is advising organisers of political campaigns that a Noise Variation is not required from the EMA for motorcades with music trucks.

Th clarification comes after Police Commissioner Gary Griffith suggested same during a Trinidad and Tobago Police Service press conference on Monday.

The EMA, in a statement, said it contacted the office of the Commissioner of Police to “address this discrepancy and ensure consensus in communicating to the public that a Noise Variation from the EMA is not one of the requirements for the use of a music truck.”

Commissioner Griffith was, at the time, urging organizers of political motorcades to follow all the proper guidelines when doing so, as he threatened to shut down those who continue to ignore the COVID-19 public health regulations.
