Two people who were confirmed to have contracted the Delta Covid-19 variant in T&T have succumbed to the virus.

This was revealed by Epidemiologist Dr. Avery Hinds, during this morning’s Covid-19 media conference.

Highlighting the importance of vaccinations, Dr. Hinds said people who succumbed to Covid-19 even having been fully vaccinated, were also suffering serious co-morbidities which deemed them medically unstable or high risk.

Meanwhile, seven more cases of the Delta variant have been reported on Monday, taking the number of known cases of the highly transmissible strain to 49.

Six of the seven cases, according to the Ministry of Health, had no contact with symptomatic persons.
