Europe Reopens Border To International Travellers- US, China Among Countries Without Access

By Newsroom

The European Union has officially named 14 countries which it will allow to travel to the bloc, another step in the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Included on the “safe” list are Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay.

Travel will resume on July 1.

Non-essential international travel has been banned by the EU since mid-March.

Notably absent from the list are countries like the United States,  Brazil and China.

Given the Brexit transition has not been fully completed (until December 31), UK nationals will benefit from the same travel allowances as EU members.

A qualified majority of EU countries – at least 55% of the EU countries, representing 65% of the EU population – have signed off on list.
