Explosion At Petrotrin’s Compound

By Newsroom

After an explosion on the Petrotrin compound in Pointe a Pierre this morning, police are advising the public to exercise caution when approaching the compound and environs.

The incident happened at daybreak on Wednesday.

No injuries have been reported, however residents in the area were traumatized as the explosion caused a loud rumbling, reportedly heard as far as Claxton Bay and La Romaine.

The incident occurred at NiQuan Energy’s Gas to Liquids Plant , which is located on the Petrotrin compound.

The cause of the explosion is not yet known.

Where possible, motorists have been asked to seek alternative routes or avoid venturing into that area as first responders are on the scene and vehicular traffic has been halted as a result.

The NiQuan Energy Gas to Liquids Plant was opened by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley in March.
