Farley Takes Oath Of Office As New Chief Secretary of THA, Duke Sworn In As Deputy Chief

History was made on Thursday, as Farley Augustine was sworn in as the new Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly.

Watson Duke, political leader of the Progressive Democratic Patriots, took his oath of office as Deputy Chief Secretary.

The PNM’s Kelvon Morris has been sworn in as the Minority Leader of the THA.

Morris was the lone PNM candidate in Monday’s election to win his seat. 

An Assembly of 17 PDP members and two People’s National Movement members was sworn in today.

Abby Taylor was elected Presiding Officer. Joel Sampson will serve as Deputy Presiding Officer.

There was a 57% voter turn out in Monday’s Tobago House of Assembly election, according to data from the Elections and Boundaries Commission.

A total of 29,273 votes were cast out of an electorate of 51,383. 

Of that number, the Progressive Democratic Patriots won the popular vote, amassing 16,932 votes- roughly 5,000 more than the PNM.
