One man was arrested for possession of a firearm, and quantity of ammunition, marijuana, and cocaine seized by officers of the North Eastern Division during an anti-crime exercise on Friday.

Officers conducted a search at a residence in “Vegas”, 2nd Caledonia, Morvant, where they found one AR 15 assault rifle with one round 7.62 ammunition. One person was arrested and taken to the Morvant Police Station.

In a separate incident, officers found and seized 27 grams of marijuana and 28 grams cocaine in an abandoned lot in the Barataria area.

Meanwhile another firearm was seized, along with a quantity of marijuana by officers attached to the Maloney Crime Patrol on Friday.

Officers were on patrol at Building 4, Maloney Gardens, when a man took off running upon seeing them. He was later held and a black Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol fitted with a magazine which contained 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition found in his bag. The bag also contained 25 grams of ammunition.

He was arrested and taken to the Maloney Police Station.
