Five Arrested Over The Weekend, Stolen Items Recovered

The TTPS have arrested five people and recovered quantities of reported stolen items. Officers made the arrests this weekend, following quick responses to robbery and theft incidents in progress.

According to a statement from the TTPS:

“In the latest incident, a quick response by officers of the Northern Division Task Force North (NDTF-N) and Arima Criminal Investigations Department (CID) resulted in the arrest of two suspects, shortly after they allegedly robbed the patrons of a bar in the Arima district around 1:30 pm, on Sunday 8th January 2023.”

The suspects, a 26-year-old and an 18-year-old, both of Diego Martin, were held a short distance away and a quantity of the stolen items were recovered. The hunt is underway for a third suspect.

In another incident, this time in the Northern Division, officers of the Arima CID were once again quick on the scene following a report of Warehouse Breaking with Intent, which occurred around 1 pm, on Saturday 7th January, 2023.

Officers were alerted to the incident at a business place in the Arima district. Upon responding, they observed a male suspect attempting to remove items from the premises. The man, a 40-year-old of Malabar, was arrested in connection with
the incident.

Also in the Port of Spain Division, officers of the Port of Spain Gang and Intelligence Unit, acting on information relative to a home invasion which occurred in the Valsayn district on Friday 6th January, 2023, executed a search warrant at the Laventille home of a male suspect.

The exercise was conducted at 4:15 pm, on Sunday 8th January, 2023 and resulted in officers finding a quantity of items which were reported stolen, at the premises. A search of a second house a short distance away led to the discovery of more items which were reported stolen. Two persons were arrested during the exercise for allegedly obstructing the officers during the execution of the searches. Investigations are ongoing into all the matters.
